Exhibition:
Mathematical Structures vizualized with the help of MATLAB

Author - Hans Feichtinger, Universität Wien und Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften

During the research work of the author regularly interesting pictures popped up during simulations. Inspired by the fact that his grandfather was both a mathematics teacher and painter (auto-didact), Josef Feichtinger, he continued to vary parameters or create many pictures, mixing deterministic strategies with randomized parameters. The pictures shown are obtained by a selection process and have been picked out of the diversity of pictures realized on the authors laptop. Some of the plots have been inspired by the work of Herman Nitsch, whose museum is in the same road as the private house of Hans Feichtinger. He even got the artist interested in spetrograms, specifically adapted by the members of ARI, in order to emphasize the similarity between (vertical) spectrograms and some of the artwork of Herman Nitsch.
